The goal of reader's workshop is to create life long readers. During this time students will practice reading, interacting, and discuss books on a daily basis.
Mini Lesson: 5-10 minutes: explicit instruction, teaching students strategies for reading and reading comprehension.
Independent Reading: This is the most important part of Reader's Workshop.Students independently read practicing the mini lesson strategy and building on past mini-lessons. As students read, teacher confers with students on a particular skill or strategy that they need to work on.
Share: With a few minutes left in class Students come back together to share their thoughts, questions, and ideas about today's lesson.
